Part 3: Text production
Checklist for writing a discussion• Remember to write roughly the right number of words (about 350). Count them and make a note of the number! • Your essay needs a separate paragraph for the introduction, conclusion, and several paragraphs for each new point in the body of the essay. • Start each paragraph with a signalling word (firstly, additionally, contrary etc.). • Make sure you vary your language (In my opinion, I firmly believe, I’m quite sure etc.). • Give examples to back your argument up. • Remember to use formal language, no abbreviations, and capitals where necessary.
